Bodycam Beginner Guide: Your First Match
A first-session checklist for Bodycam on Steam: prepare your PC, check controls, choose a mode, communicate and review your first match.
For your next session: check your PC, use the Shooting Range HUB to inspect bindings and try your loadout, then play one mode long enough to learn a route and one recurring mistake. Bodycam's Steam listing describes the tactical tablet, practice range and a view without a conventional crosshair, ammo counter or HUD.
Before you queue
- Compare your hardware with the official minimum and recommended specifications. Meeting minimum is a starting point, not an FPS promise.
- In the Shooting Range HUB, follow the on-screen prompt to open the tactical tablet. Its settings and loadout tools let you check the bindings and setup you actually have, then test a change at the range before entering matchmaking. Use the control setup worksheet and settings test plan.
- Pick one available mode. Steam names Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Wingman, Body Bomb, Hardpoint, Gun Game and co-op Zombies in its description; the live playlist can differ. Read the objective shown in your current menu.
- If playing with a team, agree on one short callout convention: a named location, an enemy direction or a regroup point. Do this before a noisy round starts.
Because the game does not present a conventional ammo counter, practice recognizing when to check or reload your magazine at the range. Do not wait until the first fight to discover how the current build communicates ammunition state.
In the first match
Use the first life to learn one route rather than trying to cover the whole map. Before crossing an opening, identify where you can retreat. If you lose a fight, note whether you missed a sound cue, exposed more than one angle or became separated from teammates. These are practice prompts, not claims about hidden game rules.
After the match, change one thing: your route, a binding you missed, or one graphics setting that obscured the scene. Play the same mode again so the comparison is useful. If you switch modes and settings at once, it is harder to tell what helped.
